This trip happened more than 2 years ago. Ralphmirebs called me and proposed to visit small abandoned miners town somewhere near Toyama, or, more precisely, Kamioka district of Hida city, but Kamioka looks like it's own town.
We went by night bus to Toyama first, but we had no much time there and I could not find anything interesting near the station for photo. We spent around an hour waiting for the first morning train to the south. At 8:30am we got to train station in Inotani village, the station and the village were about the same size.
There were river and road parallel to railroad, on the other side of the river it was another village.
Here had to wait for another hour for the bust to Kamioka.
In whole bus we were only passengers at this early saturday time.
Sakura trees grow along river of Kamioka, should be beautiful in spring.
The river walls had some reliefs
Here people are ready for snow, shovels are prepared.
Town was under the mine, there should be some miners museum, but we did not look for it.
There was some buddhist temple on the hill.
From the hill we found a castle, it was just on our way, but was actually closed that day.
IMHO It's too scary to live so
We left Kamioka and directed to mountains. There snow was everywhere.
Some economy car past us going down, half hour later it returned. Old lady driving the car offered us a ride. She went to bring her grandson from Kamioka. On the way up we stopped at another buddhist temple.
The temple was empty, its priest recently deceased. The temple was looking quite rich even comparing with many big city temples.
Finally we got to our goal. The old lady asked several time can we really sleep here and we explained about tent. And here it is.
Evening.
Many windows were still with full glass.
We got to the top of one building.
According some things and papers this town was abandoned in 70s.
Next morning we tried to reach other building and onsen, but snow was too deep.
We rфn out of time and went back to Kamioka in hurry.
There was a bit time before the bus.
We got to local bus to onsen and high speed bus stop.
We had around one hour and half for onsen with snowballs and walk around.
Yep, this is boiled eggs and no one around.
Then we returned to the bus stop, got our bus and returned back to Tokyo.
